Vocational Skills Training
This component aims to enable Women, PWDs and other vulnerable people create their own employment and sustain themselves by training in various trades such Catering, Hair dressing, Tailoring, Computer and secretarial studies among others. The training is undertaken both at Vocational Training Institution and community (apprenticeship with local artisans). Over 200 WGDs have been trained and supported with start up materials to enable them put to use the skills learnt. Over 180 WGDs have established their own businesses while others have secured employment in private and public enterprises. To a reasonable extent, these can afford basic necessities such as medical care, clothing, housing and school fees. Others have made savings and bought assets.
