Community Based Rehabilitation
This component supports children with disabilities undergo corrective surgery for clubfeet, post polio paralysis and hydrocephalus from specialized hospitals in Uganda and the aim is to increase mobility and participation in household and community activities including education. Under this component facilitated two clients, 180 Children with Disability to undergo successful operations at of club feet, post polio paralysis and hydrocephalus from Cure Children’s Hospital-Mbale and CorSU Hospital-Entebbe. In addition to providing support for hospital bills, mobility appliances, transport and meals, IDIWA conducts home based care, pre and post-operative physiotherapy to ensure proper use of drugs and mobility appliances, quick recovery and prevention of secondary disabilities. The problem of club feet and hydrocephalus is still enormous in Uganda and IDIWA continue to fundraise to save more lives from the problem.
